While we can probably all agree that Marie Antoinette’s “let them eat cake” phrase was somewhat politically polarizing, today’s inspiration post definitely shows that I agree with the logic behind her infamous statement!

Oh the beauty and wonder of cake.  Endless possibilities, too much for one girl to eat in one sitting, and WAY too much sugar.  But who the heck cares.

Especially when we’re talking cakes!

So today I present to you some of my favorite cakes from my Pinterest board:

and finally,

And seriously, who doesn’t love the Betty White Snickers commercial???  See below for some mid-week entertainment:

Now go eat some cake! Or a snickers! Or BOTH!

-Happy Humpday!

I love Spring.

I love watching businesses open up their windows and doors for the first time in months.  I love puppy watching as I can FINALLY take long runs/walks down the West Side Highway.  Most importantly, I love Spring for all the fun Holidays! And no Spring holiday is more important than Easter!  I love Easter so much that I would go home for it every year (if I could).  In fact, this Sunday will only be the 3rd Easter Sunday I’ve ever spent away from my family.

So with that being said, today’s inspiration post is all about Spring table settings…aka, table settings appropriate for this coming Sunday (if you choose to get so fancy).  I found so many different ideas/themes, I really did want to post them all! However, I made myself cut back to only ten.  If you want to see the whole lot, you can jump over to my Pinterest board and check them out there!

I hope everyone enjoys this special weekend with family and friends!

Spring’s entrance yesterday has me so excited to cook with the windows open, eat outdoors, and picnic alongside the Hudson River (a girl can dream…right? or someone can call Eric and tell him that’s my dream date!). But in reality, springtime has me in one HECK of a baking mood.  Not to mention girl scout cookies have just started to arrive.  And come on guys, it’s never a question of WHAT cookies you purchase….it’s always HOW MANY. (so be honest!)

Growing up in Tennessee, I remember passing bake sales as I walked into WalMart, Target or any local grocery store.  Local Cub Scout troops, basketball teams or church youth groups all filled their tables FULL of yummy, homemade baked goods.  Do you guys have that in your community? I’ve even been at the helm of a few good bake sales myself.  I believe I even sang to get someone to buy a cookie??? (memory? help. Mom?) ha.

Those are the memories that inspired this week’s inspiration post. I know I didn’t capture all the desserts you might find at a typical community sale, but I highlighted my favorites. See below for links to the original websites and recipes!

1. Crispy Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

2. Peanut Butter and Fudge Brownies with Salted Peanuts

3. Healthy Banana Bread

4. Red Velvet Cupcakes

5. Blueberry Lemon Muffins

6. No Bake Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Cookies

Did I leave out any of your favorites?  Let me know!

What’s your favorite non-traditional holiday of the year? Is it July 4th? Memorial Day?  Dare I say, Cinco de Mayo???

Whatever your favorite, I think we can all agree there is something special that ALL ages love about St. Patrick’s Day.  The pinching.  Leprechauns.  Rainbows.  Pots of Gold.  Wearing green.  I love it all!

Throw in the fact that two of my great college friends celebrated birthdays during the same week, and I have myself one great holiday.  Creating this inspiration board was super easy and fun, and I’ve been experimenting with recipes all week.  I’m only showing you seven images above, but I have tons more over on my St. Patty’s Day Pinterest Board!  Below is a list of what I’m calling my “traditional meets fun” mix:

1. Irish Champ with Sausages

2. Irish Beef Stew

3. Shamrock Cupcakes

4. Cute, green DIY wreathe!

5. Green Velvet Cake Pops

and finally, the most decadent,

6. Irish Coffee Ice Cream with Shaved Dark Chocolate and Candied Pecans

What are your Patty Day plans?  Do you have any favorite treats you make every year?  I would love to hear, so leave a comment below!

Ahhhhhh, love.  Valentine’s Day is all about love and emotion and candy and parties and…..time spent with great girlfriends.

At least for me!  I’ll be spending Valentine’s Day night with some of my great girlfriends here in NYC.  We’re hoping to have a fun night filled with non-guy talk and lots of fun food.  Seeing as I volunteered myself to handle the food portion of the festivities, I’ve spent the last week using my newly created Pinterest account to gather inspiring images of decorations and food.

Above you’ll find my favorites from the board.  What do you think?  Am I leaving out your favorite V-day treat?

And if you want to see my entire V-day Board on Pinterest, you can clicky right here!

While the weather we’re currently experiencing in NYC is unseasonably warm, Mr. Punxsutawney Phil DID see his shadow yesterday…meaning that we still have several weeks of winter remaining.  How else are we to get through these sure-to-be wretched next six weeks??? Cocktails of course!

And not just any regular/typical/girlie drinks; winter cocktails, my friends.  Mixed drinks that “real” men drink…drinks that will put hair on your chest! (unless of course that’s not what you want; make sure you drink carefully!)

So above you will see my top five picks for the best mixed drinks to help get you through the icy weeks ahead!

1. the Manhattan

2. Irish Coffee

3. Dark & Stormy

4. Bourbon Ginger

and, if you really can’t stomach the strong stuff, this is for you:

5. Holiday Spiced Punch (alcohol free version here) Just because the major holidays are over doesn’t mean you have to stop making this!

Now tell me, what are your plans to get through the upcoming winter weather???  Did I leave your favorite cocktail off the list?

For the last month, I’ve been scouring the web to search for new mixing bowls.  My current set is from college….think pre-freshman-year-dorm-room-shopping type of college.  They’ve been so great over the years, but I can’t help but want some “big girl” bowls.

Above, you’ll find my top five choices.  I’m leaning towards aluminum, but glass is also so classic!

  1. Stainless-Steel Restaurant Mixing Bowls, Set of 5: Williams-Sonoma, $49.95
  2. 10-Piece Glass Bowl Set: Crate and Barrel, $29.95
  3. Room Essentials Pink 3pc Mix bowl set: Target, price not listed
  4. M.E. Heuck Co. copper Copper Mixing Bowl Set: Target, $19.99
  5. Hammered Stainless Steel Kadhai: World Market, $3.99-$12.99 each

I haven’t made any purchases yet, so tell me if you have a brand/material you love.  I would love to hear about them!
